Hi all, bit of a dilemma... I was going to go down the chas route but in discussion with a construction company today they mentioned they only recognise Smas. So i was wondering which brings in more work in regards to being on the directory lists for tenders etc. Also, Has anyone signed up to both? Cheers in advance

Dense moment but SMAS is what exactly, I'm aware of chas and been thinking of getting through it for a while but if this is more likely to be excepted then might be worth a closer look

That was pretty much my reaction! ? here's a link

https://www.smasltd.com

Housing association prefers chas & this construction company wants Smas. All I want to do is cut down trees & get paid! ?

We are SMAS reg and have never been asked for anything else, will probably have a chat with @AA Teccie (Paul) and add in AA at some point but not sure why :) . SMAS  is a lot easier to achieve if you employ an HS consultant.

AA is much broader in its scope than just H&S compliance, which accounts for about 20-25%, so benefits the business as other aspects get reviewed...And we go to site, ie the Stage 2 assessment.

Increasingly I am being told organisations, including many LAs, are at least stating a preference for ARB Approved so a recognised industry (business) standard/benchmark is evolving.

Cheers

Which did you do first? & which register do you think brings in more work? Cheers [emoji106]

Did CHAS first then get the others of the back of that, no hard just n office job and well wort it if your doing any form of commercial work as for which ones bring more work, it’s hard to say, none of the will get you the job alone but a lot of firms won’t even let you quote with out one, one grounds maintenance contract we have is worth 10k per year and you have to have an ssip to even tender .
