You pick up little tricks the more you do it.. Apparently a rubber mallet helps a lot with used rope. Helps flatten the fibres or something?? Onelab is pretty hot on his splicing and explained it to me. It made sense at the time but I can't recall now.

 

Got one and did batter the throat to help the eye sit in and it did work. Also a pair of gloves helps alot.

couple rings for adjustable cambium saver or something along thoses lines.

 

I haven't tried op yet. What's it like to splice?
