My splicing attempts

Steve sent me some of this cord a year or so ago, I messed it right up just trying to cut it! Core is very different, I'm hoping it works better than the liros I've been using on my poision ivy.

I use a ceramic knife for high mod ropes. Goes through them like butter!!

Mine seems to run really nice on my poison ivy. Took a couple of goes to get the right length though.

hello all, ive been learning to splice with selma fids, the hollow ones with an internal hook to pull through the bury, am i in the dark ages, ive done quite a few now. i know most of you guys seem to splice with wire fids, i imagine not having to bury a bulky fid through the sheath as well as all that core is a godsend, do i make one or do i buy one of nods.

Whoever comes up with a method for marking black ropes will be my personal hero!

I tend to dispense with most of the marking on black cords. I find the extraction point and pull the core immediately, and pull the cover strands for the taper as I count them. The other side of the eye is wherever it ends up, which is why the eye is a little tighter than I planned, and I dont mark the end of the core bury until I'm ready to do it. Its not perfect but it works for me!
