HSE compliant training is HSE compliant, and if theres an accident no matter who was the assessing body, if your tickets are over 5 years they are still going to ask..........WHY did you not have the advised refresher? right? I think so as thats one of the questions we were recently asked

My answer would be:- Because I have been using my skills on a daily basis for the last 15 years and in all that time the way trees grow and the laws of physics have not changed.

I took my driving test 23 years ago, I have not been asked to take a refresher for that and IMO driving to site is the most dangerous part of my day :001_smile:

That is our opinion, however when one of lads, recently had a serious accident, that question was asked to several lads during interviews,,,, do you get refresher training? when did you last have any? shen were you trained?

Showing new machines, laws, we have some people in our office who havent used a chipper for years, if they went for a job tomorrow, they can still say they have been working in the trade?

i dont think chippers have changed that much !! only colours , or have i missed somthing !to warrant a refresher :laugh1:

most people who have accidents using them are, go on guess.........so called experianced! the lad from a local authority who had his arm ripped off was 24 and had been using one for years, its a good form of insurance. Our lads get regular refreshers. Why do you need to refresh MEWP? Felling, how many new ways of felling a tree can they come up with?
