Anybody seen saw troll lately ? He'd be able to tell you who built the saw and which line they worked on, what time they knocked off that day and where they went for dinner.

Don't you mean @SawTroll? That way he gets a message I think.

@adw and @Sveriges  are also very knowledgeable about Huskies

HI, I've got two 266's.....as I understand it , they were made from 81 to 94, a black badge for the 80's and a silver badge for the 90's,  the 1st number denotes the year of the decade, the 2nd two are the week of that year and the rest indicate its number in that years production run.......so yours might be the 904th made in the 21st week of 1987........ but I stand to be corrected,     cheers

That makes sense. I think Husqvarna brought out the 162 after I bought my 280 and I went for that as it was lighter, this then morphed into the 266-268-272  in the meanwhile the smaller saw line starting with the 140 or 240 evolved into the 254 then 262 which ended up being my main saws  till I stopped production work, though I still have 3.

I feel the 60cc 162 onwards were based on the Jonsered 621 but don't know the actual history as Jonsered and Husqvarna were all much the same by the 162

I don't know much detailed history but when I looked at my two this afternoon although one of then would seem to correspond to the badge format that I described,  ironically the other confounds this theory by having a silver badge which reads.....

               HUSQVARNA  266  SE

                     1982  017568

ELECTROLUX MOTOR AB SWEDEN                least I'm sure of the year !!     Cheers.
