Doesn't sound right. I've got a Jensen which is very similar setup, the hood sensor only needs to be engaged when starting the engine on mine? Will run with hood up fine once it's going

Engine should cut out once bonnet is lifted, this is protect little fingers from spinning pulleys and moving belts and fans!

Maybe its an older design. Think its wired into the starter as wont start unless its pressed. Do timberwolf etc not run with the side panels taken off? Cant really see the issue, no different to opening your car bonnet while its running to diagnose a problem

Machines like the TW involve a tool to remove the side panels, this involves a thought process, collection of the correct tool and then using it. Hopefully, by then, you will have reasoned the foolishness of opening while it runs.

A bonnet switch or "Interlocking interface" should switch off the engine if activated.

Yea I thought this . You can get someone to keep the micro switch closed to keep it running but on a Jensen it will stop .
