Stinky exotic timber?

Any guesses what this is. It was salvaged from a pallet of Indian sandstone. Stinks when you cut it, kind of like pickled onions! Hard and heavy. Attractive timber though I think

That seems like a good guess from the smell. I can’t find any pictures of it’s timber on line to confirm. Only thing is that it only seems to grow in Australia and is considered vulnerable so I wouldn’t expect it to be logged for pallets?

Think I have met this stuff before. At first glance thought it was some ash but then got this stink when machining it and the grain was to tight to be ash. Cant for the life of me remember what it was though.

Looks like Agba to me it smells too like onions, takes polish well too.

it is not one i recognise to be honest and i'm not familiar with agba wood but it sounds like a good candidate.

No problem for lump mate, I’ve got about 3 meters of it. Another guess from Facebook was idigbo. I struggle enough with IDing British stuff. I’m clueless with foreign timbers

It's not idigo. Used a fair bit of that for windows and doors and it's more orange in colour and not especially heavy
