First Forestry Tractor

Evening all.

Recently picked up a Hooklift trailer from Wilson’s and am thinking of getting a tractor with roof mounted crane rather than mount the crane on the drawbar etc etc.

I literally have no idea of what would be the best tractor for the work we do! Would have to be second hand as budget dictates this at present.

Will be speaking To Simon at Wilson’s on Tuesday but if anyone has any other advise it’d be greatly appreciated

Thankyou as always

Jonny

Nice trailer
Valtra lend themselves to having cranes mounted on them with good hydraulics, long frames, low center of gravity and turning seats as standard, I'd personally always want 6 pots with a min 130hp something in the 8000 range would do nicely without being rediculous priced although the larger ones still hold the money.

No idea if it's any good for what you need but was looking at this earlier

https://classifieds.thefarmingforum.co.uk/listing/valtra-8050-farm-tractors-14605

what I have found is good tractors aren't cheap, farmers don't sell good tractors, tractors are mind boggling spec wise, also does forestry come under he ag exemptions for tachos, o liscence, etc?
