The stump job !!!!!!!!!

:confused1:Seen a load of crossed stumps, normally done by diyers, they seem to think by doing this it helps the stump rot down faster and instead of taking 20 yrs is going to dissapear in 3 months:confused1: then they wonder why there B+Q special wont but next time out.

i dont think the cris/cros help as after a while the stump goes slimey anyway unless you have obnailed boots on there was 1, in the rear garden that was x & thats was like skating ring. ,keept the rayco as had trouble getting clutch for the pred ,& the rayco is faster on the smaller & s/wood stumps

If you go deep enough it does help them rot down. Before I started doing treework about 5 years ago one firm did it on a site. Those stumps are well on the way to rotting now, the others that didn't have that done are still there. But in fact I've just had an order number to grind them so happy days!!

i ground a stump last week that a contractor thought he would be helpful by criss crossing it,they were up to 6'' deep cuts.i ended up ripping off 3 chunks violently with the grinder,1 which jumped up and hit the screen

Yes but i doesnt make em rot down is a matter of months does it! i hardly makes any differance at all. If you go deep enough you might aswell dig it out or have it ground and not bugger up a chain.

My stump grinder is attached to the front of the landy, leave a 8ft pole hook up the sling and away you go

Although Ive got a bigish chestnut stem to remove on thurs, will try to get some photos

Last one I did with the landy I had to leave a 25ft pole and put in a 5:1 system, it did the job but only just and that was one hell of a stump for my poor wee landy
