Have mine on the harness and does get caught a bit but I think its worth it. Cut myself with the silky a couple of times and been handy to have it right there!

If you get a bad cut high up having a blood stopper could be a life saver...........

carry an army field dressing in my leg pocket easy to access and at the end of the day plasters etc are a pain in the backside to mess about with in a tree, if it's bad then slap a dressing on it and bail out of the tree

I would highly recommend the Proclimber Personal First Aid Pouch. Had mine at least 3 years maybe even 4. Rarely comes off and never opens.

i have a berghaus mobile phone pouch on the back of my harness which contains a large wound dressing and a pack of cellox, it zips up and is real durable and is the size of a 2 packets of 10 fags, cost about 8 quid

Are there any recorded instances of Climbers saving their life through applying wound dressings before decending?

It would be interesting to know on what parts of the body climbers most often cut themselves whilst aloft.I am betting that its arm or hand.In the case of either injury, the time spent fumbling for a first aid kit on a harness and then attempting to apply it one handed might be better spent decending?

I assume, if you were badly injured and needing rescue, you could patch yourself up whilst the rescuer gets to you.

But if your in need of rescue then your probably pretty screwed, and not going to be in a posistion to apply "first aid" to yourself.
