I know - its a bit mental isn't - but if you own a crane, why not?

We all do it the easy way whenever possible, today we used the tractor with timber grab, you could have done it without, but it made the whole job so easy and quick

that video shocked me,  all that big big expensive kit onsite for that wee tree!

the Instagram video was just a balanced lateral.

 

isnt called a V cut as the slings are in a V shape, albeit and upside down V.?

what I don't get is the gratuitous gum chewing with the mouth open?  What is all that about???

I think its a bit like Cut 1 , 2/3 of way through , then instead of Cut 2 , paralel and overlapping to it , as a normal step-cut- you make Cut 2 at a slope so it doesn't jam the saw in the cut . Seen it used over here on big lumps . So it aint new , K

Probably only took 1.5 hours from setup to drive away. Might have cost more to do it another way
