201TCM running bad after "fixing"

Dropped my 201 out the tree (strop broke) Broke the handle, replaced it, in the process stripped one of the yellow earth(?) wires out its cover, bodged it with a bit of new wire of slightly larger diameter (loosened the magneto(? black box next to the flywheel) in the process)

 

all back together, it fires but runs half arsed and lumpy, like a 4cyl diesel running on 3cylinders.

 

Is it a computer reset problem? or the magneto? the slightly thicker wire? or something else?

 

any ideas appreciated

Did you check the gap between the flywheel and the ignition module when you adjusted it?

should be in handbook etc but most of time people use a business card

Usually credit card size. There's a proud part of the flywheel, set that you the ignition module with a card between and tighten the ignition screws.

 

If that doesn't help I'm out.

Stick a typical business card in front of the coil, turn the flywheel round so the magnets are in front of the coil, loosen the coil so it sticks to the business card, do it back up, remove the business card and check the coil isn't rubbing on the flywheel when you turn it.

Got same issues with mine.complete new handle.

But i did notice 2.fins missing of the fly wheel.no idea how they have broken off .the side cover has never been off.¿???

That will knock it out of balance and may take out your main bearing on the flywheel side in time:thumbdown:

Knock off 2 more on the opposite side then, that'll fix it. ..
