Looks like a hard tip bar to me. Never seen one in the flesh gather they were used in dirty conditions. You really need to ditch this saw even a cheapo Chinese one is going to be a safer and more useful tool.

Well the saw is bought now. I may as well have fun taking it apart and learning while i'm at it. fired up on 3rd pull. seems to tick over ok though it did start to over rev a bit, no fuel in tank, just what was left in the line...expected....House a bit smokey.

So far smoothed off some light burring on the edges of the bar. cleaned the chain. chain looks in good condish. checked oiler was working as it should. cleaned out all the allen screw heads and bolts and made sure they were ok and not glue on. Found a crack on the chain drive shaft cover plate that i never noticeed in the pics.

Next job get the sprocket off and see what's behind that. Bearings on drive shaft fine. Do i need to choke the piston chamber with something before i remove the nut holding the sprocket and clutch in place.?

Dont start it up again with that " old mix " in it . Make some fresh . Try just using the compression it has first to get the clutch off . Don't forget its a LH thread . Get a ring spanner on there and give it a sharp whack with a mallet . If that does not work be very careful with any type of piston stop be it hard or soft .

Never run a saw indoors, ever.

Wives and girlfriends go mental and remind you about for the next ten yrs.

I possess neither a wife nor a girlfriend. They do my nut in.

I have a Goldfish, and he doesn't appear to give a flying ####. Never once has he drawn me a dirty look for leaving the toilet seat up. He just swims in circles minding his own business, eating his own excrement.
