Carving bar Chain lift before nose?

Recommended Posts

Never had this before, been using carving bars for getting on 10 years now, c06867fddcefd21337854f091770ddaf.jpg46a7fa4ff9b81ce33bf00d9098e4bc3c.jpg

Chain being a fool, sucker, just before nose, bar is dressed nice, all square rails even wear, tried with 2 chains (both new) same thing, new sprocket.

When you run the chain it appears to tighten, then if you pull it or put the brake on it slackens off again.

Def not drive links bottoming out as if you push it down it'll sit back

Just thought some other carver might of had same problems

Foolish sucker

Groove is clean, I thought it was a siezed links until I noticed it did it on everyone all the way round the chain and the 2nd new chain didn't solve it.

I have used the saw again today and seems to be doing it a bit less, potentially it was some burring from when dressed the rails (burring across to inside of rails?)

You have a lot of peening on the tie straps on both chains but particualrly the chain on the right which looks to be new ish.

This may or may not be related to what is going on with the chain riding up but it is not normal.

Obvious cause is worn drive sprocket.... but may not be this but worth getting to the bottom of why that is happening.
