Hi all.

What are the rules on forklift ownership? Been talking to a couple of dealers both seemed to indicate I had to have it serviced and MOTd like a car even for own use on private land :001_huh:

I may have got the wrong end of the stick but be nice to clarify what I legally have to do.

Thanks

Must be a wind up. There are no rules on owning a forklift. No V5, no tax, no MOT. It's a plant machine like any other.

If you have employees using it or are perhaps using it in the public sphere then an annual Loler test to demonstrate it is safe would be a good idea. You could do the relevant course to show you can use it safely but again - an idea not a requirement.
