It seems like a really odd request to me thinking about it? Why have they only got 250 yards to cut and if they have loads more grass (which they surely must?) why is the main contractor not doing it?

Parish councils do have their own patches to maintain, gives them something to do and makes them feel important. We do a bit for them and they have their own little budget for small works. Its not normally cut throat so worth pricing and may lead onto other things.

I agree it's worth sticking a price in I get quite a lot of work from the local parishes. It just seems like a telly small patch that's all.

If you cant quote a simple job or work out how to quote a simple job like that maybe you shouldnt be in the industry mate.

No offence meant but you post a lot of questions on these pages asking for advice or help but ive yet too see you help or advize anyone else.

I learned how to quote by experience and i under quoted jobs as im sure you will too,its all part of learning how to run a business.

That's a bit harsh.

If matey lacks confidence to determine a price, it doesn't mean he doesn't belong in the industry. Plenty of people can work perfectly well just are not great at pricing.

I've been contacted via a local parish council to cut a verge which is approx 250yards long an 1-1.5metres wide. I not have a long arm flail .... I'm planning to strim it as won't take more than 3/4 hours which is fine by me.

I've been told to quote :

What does everyone reckon it should be ? I have ideas but could be way out.

Does your parish council/community have a web site, with the minutes of the meetings? A bit of digging could tell you what they paid last time.
