Hey geys,

 

I want to add a swivel to my harness bridge, any tips on how to undo the locktighted shackles to slip a swivel on? Only tried and tested method seems to be direct heat, but I don't want to put 250degreesC anywhere near my harness.

 

Only other option seems to be attaching it via a biner, but I'm trying to keep the amount of "gubbins" on my bridge to a minimum (swivel acting as an attachment point for my hitchclimber and one ring for work positioning/rescues)

Never had the need to use anything other than brute Force to undo locktighted threads

I bent the only allen key I have handy that fits

Buy yourself an Allen key socket and use with a ratchet. They should come undone easily with the extra leverage.

It should undo, as suggested above try a ratchet handle on an allen key socket type bit.

 

Or you could try a DMM Focus swivel as they have the means to undo & permanently attach on one link - see the green ones on Jonsies site.

This looks much better than the swivel I have, smaller and another plane! I think I'll try and grab a refund on the rockerotica one I bought and replace it with this, I was just trying to be cheap!

Yeah, I have to put my biner straight onto my bridge rather than use one of the rings because of the way the hitchclimber sits, i'm 90 deg out using the rings, which is annoying and means I'm always being pulled to the left whilst thrusting up the trunk.

Swivels are expensive prone to wear in one place and on the whole not much use, a ring is simple, effective and reliable.

 

Swivels do have their uses in certain applications yours doesn't sound like one.

 

But go ahead and use one if you must.
