stringy bits

I seem to be getting stringy bits when I chip, mainly conifer but had it with some ash the other day. Seems to be ok on the larger stuff, but the smaller branches its worse.

do I need to replace the anvil? Its a refurbed 1998 entec 6inch

Sounds like you do need to replace anvil plates as they are probably curved over so letting the blades tare material past instead of getting a clean cut.

Yes behind the feed rollers, there are 2 the base one and the other at the RHS held on by 2 small allen keys

spectrum do them as a kit with the bolts, so will order them up and see if it makes a difference

The little one on the RHS has small allen bolts which will not come undo your best bet is to just drill heads off but before you drill the last one get hold of anvil before it drops down.

Aye they can be barstwards to get them out, heat often helps, plenty of copperslip on refitting

You could heat them but no point if new being fitted just drill the heads off them a lot quicker.

well as you can see the side anvil well and truly knackered. In fact, the top bolt had sheared, it was only held on woth the bottom one. Thank goodness it didnt fail and go inside the drum.

the other anvil wes well rounded. Had to weld a bolt in the alken key head to undo them, they were a pain.

the side anvil was a piece of cake.

will be using chipper in the week so will test its performance on the smaller stuff. Shame I didnt replace these when I did the refurb.didnt know about the side anvil, but wondering what purpose this has?
