whats your favourite tree to work with

ive been trying to think of what i believe to be the best tree to work on in all areas such as takedowns, redutions and even the easyness of chipping and came to the conclusion of good old oak. be interesting to hear other climbers choice of tree

I quite like working on cherry, but then again probably because that's what I've done most of so it's what I'm good at and accordingly find easy.

beech without doubt

Oak is nice but the epicormicky ones are a pain and the timber is heavy. Birches are too small and so are cherries, beech is good; smooth and strong. Syc is nice to climb but you can't do much with it..

 

I'll go for aspen, you dont get many but they're nice to climb, stringy and predictable and not too heavy.

I like alder... preferably big ones!

Either Elm, Alder or mature Scots Pine

love working with eucalyptus

smooth, chips well, smells good

but for profit (Fire wood) its got to be ash or oak
