I run my 460 on a 25" with full skip and it's ace! I also like the fact it's twice as quick to sharpen. I do think it's strange the full skip has half the amount of cutters but is more expensive, I suppose because it's less common?

i run a 8 tooth and full chain on my 395 with an oregon 37 reduced weight bar in a 3 foot wide dead elm, it bogged down but in a big pine was fine , went to a 7 tooth and the dead elm when blocking it up and still bogged a bit , swapped over to a Oregon skip which was bought with the bar and made a big difference actually , so depending on the wood i spose either will do whats needs to done , not tried the 8 tooth with the skip yet tho

Where did you get that bar from?

Skip chain been nothing new in USA since the 50's! Yet here we are in Blighty getting all excited about it in 2017. :001_rolleyes:

Been using it since 2003 when I bought " west Coast " 385 from Canada . Went to get a new chain from my dealer back then and he did not know what I was talking about . Been getting it from the U.S. until recently .

Would I be right in thinking it would give a smaller saw the ability to carry a larger bar without too much fuss? I only ask as I have often though that instead of getting something like a 576xp for example, I could just get a 25" bar and run skip tooth on my 60cc saw to save not only on the financial outlay but also save on weight and bill when climbing
