We get it here where everyone wants their Canary Date palms to look like a pineapple. Even the Council do it....very bad and disheartening...

Yes I suppose it looks nicer but it's not very good for the tree. People here are very keen to have these ornamental palms instead of leaving them to grow as intended, assisted by minimal pruning. I've been asked to do them, but after reading papers from the University of Florida about palm tree pruning, I've changed my mind and only do minimal maintenance and cleaning work on them.
