Makita Flail mower

has anyone used a Makita FLG5000 Flail

 

are they any good?

As far as my understanding about flail mowers goes, 5hp for 50cm is a bit weak. Look at the 2 wheel tractors, they recommend about 10hp for 65cm.

It looks decent quality, but I agree with Marne it looks kinda under powered

Agreed, that looks well underpowered but not having used it I could be wrong.

 

Look for a Scag/Ferris/Great Dane type walk behind. Or look at YouTube too for ideas of what might suit you.

Hear a few reviews about them think they would be good for narrow access jobs. Speed hire them so maybe a case of try before you buy.

It's smaller than I thought but that could be a plus especially when transporting them.

 

That's a good shout to hire one 1st. If you're doing biggish areas you may end up wishing you'd got a bigger machine though...

I've used one - it's ok for lightweight stuff. But for series bramble bashing you need hydraulic drive, hammer or delta flails and about 30hp....

 

I own one of these now.....
