By "gravel boards" we're talking about ferrocement 2x12 six-foot planks right? I made some raised beds with them last year, they weigh 70kg apiece, three rebars in each one. No way could they be damaged, only with a sledgehammer maybe. The ones I used were wood imprint on one side, look really nice when they're painted with water based stain, hard to tell they're not wood.

Once a gravel board has left contact with the ground it becomes very easy to break it is not recommended to use more than two, fences taller than this use a morticed board which is far stronger with much heavier posts and far more expensive

Cool. Are we talking about the same thing? By morticed do you mean grooved like shiplap or log-cabin style timbers, where the baords mate, or does the mortice refer to the post? The posts I got were morticed, about 5x5 inch with four rebars and two inch deep mortice grooves the length of the post. Posts came 8 foot long.

I have a fence to erect that runs along the side of a footpath that is frequented by scum bags! the fence that is currently in has being kicked to pieces and set on fire! other than palisade or mesh what other options is there? customer has asked if we can just use gravel boards but as its going to be 6' 6" high and its 190 feet long it will look horrible and cost a fortune...ideas :confused1:

Maybe if the fence was more open and you could see through it (ie mesh) the neds/whatever would be less likely to hang around there?
