Work experience requirements

Hi,

I'm looking for some advice on what should be in place for taking on someone for a week on work experience.

The student is under 16 years, so I'm assuming employers liability may not cover "young persons"

Apart from the obvious RAMS and providing ppe, what else needs to be done/covered?

Have them working with someone on the ground shadowing them? Obv not near when using saws etc but always under constant supervision

Make sure you get the parents to sign the RAMs/description of duties as being under 18 there not legally allowed to sign them.

We have taken on a few over the years and normally someone from the school/college comes out to check the whole operation. They want to check things like no lone working, welfare arrangements , first aid facilities, and all the normal "wrap them in cotton wool" bull.
