I was dead set on the version 2 of the 540xp, then worked with a mate of mine today and he said the the 201tcm has stepped up its game since the 201c, cutting amazingly. I guess it a case of splitting hairs at this stage. And at the end of the day, it's down to your own skill. I just want to make sure that I'm looking at the best I can get at the moment for my money. As we all do 😎

Snap in half!! Haha! So, the general consensus between the first version of the 540xp and the 2nd version is?.........

Basically, I would like to try husqvarna out, I've pretty much always used Stihl, but have heard good things. I need a reliable climbing saw that will start quickly and cut quickly. That's the dream I know. But which way to go? Thanks again for your time everyone. J

Yes that mark 1 does like to split in half (well mine did) but the mark 2 looks like they cleared that problem. Definitely worth giving the mark 2 a go

Well I'm glad that they have ironed out the issues of the first version. If I'm honest, I've been watching a bit of Reg Coates talking about saws, and it has pushed me in the direction of husqvarna. He's a great climber and arborist which has given me stock in his opinion. But also listening to all you guys talking about this is a massive help too. We all want confidence in the tools we use and want to invest in the efficiency of a brand and not just the label. It's a tough nut to crack, but worth discussing. Thank you everyone for your input. Working safe is the main thing ey.

Yes the Tcm is an improvement on power but ours is less than 3 months old and the plastic has started to break already, so I can't see it lasting very long. Looking at how much improvements Stihl made to the 201t then I presume that Husky will have improved the 540 by the same same margin
