You do start losing any respect you may have had for the old bill, when you're lock up gets robbed & they don't turn up for three days, cctv showed an x reg Van which could have been traced back on town cctv / anpr etc & after chasing it up a month later to find out the blood taken from where one of the scrotes cut himself had been lost but yeah real great job they do

Not everyone has a low opinion of the police. Two came round to mark up my equipment. I found them very professional, friendly and offered plenty of free advice. Couldn't rate them highly enough

I definitely do not have a low opinion of the police despite what my comments may convey, I am not naive enough to think just because their response and ability to deal with the crimes we are having are actually to do with the average police officer not trying it's not that simple.

I just wish the powers above would put some more importance on it and start harassing these scrots a bit more, eventually they will catch them red handed, after all they see to know precisely who is doing it.

I'm certainly not anti-police. The ladies and gents doing the policing are over-stretched and have their hands tied in many cases by bureaucracy (I have several friends who are coppers at different levels, and get a bit of an insight into their frustrations). The whole system is massively flawed when it comes to this sort of crime and travelling criminals - there is a very real problem that is difficult to deal with under the current way forces and the law works, and it is unlikely to be shaken up and resolved as people aren't dying (which they arguably are with easy-to-prosecute road traffic offences). This plays into the thieves hands as they know that they are unlikely to get caught, and there isn't the resource to undertake sting operations etc for such minor crime.

Keep your gear as safe as you can, make sure you are insured, and have some reassurance from the recent case of the Welsh chap who filled two thieves in (broken legs etc) and has just had the court let him off prosecution as it was deemed reasonable force under the circumstances. I'm not suggesting you should break any scrotes' legs if you catch them in the act mind... Please don't do that...

I also like the idea of the new trail cams that send a photo instantly to your phone. Firstly it alerts you so there's a good chance they can be caught in the act. Secondly, even if they do spot the camera there's a good chance you already have a picture of their ugly mug!

I've got of these trail cams, but it is a black art getting it set up to send pictures to my phone. Anyone know how to do this, and talk me through it by pm?

Cheers...Al

Does anyone have experience with using a ram lock device for tractor security? Thinking of getting one - just wondered how effective they are. I think NFU give a discount on insurance if you use one which means they must be fairly well thought of..

This type if thing:

CJ Supplies > Ram Lock

Derwent Trading International Ltd - Specialise in locks for Agricultural and Plant vehicles

I,ve the Derwent type one fitted to our larger Massey. Very effective, easy to put on and weather resistant. You just have to remember to put full lock on before you switch the engine of each time!
