Thanks for all your replay so far. That's a good idea about extending it up further with a karabiner and strop I hadn't thought of that, For long accents ( something I really haven't figured out yet) that would work a treat. I'll chuck a biner and strop on the list aswell. Do you climb with it like that all the time Wes?

Yes, at home with that set up now. I didn't like my ZZ before I tried that for the same reasons as you with your SJ. I love it with that simple adjustment.

Will take a look at the video cheers for the link, and definitely set on the blue tongue then have a pulley already and will look into a foot ascender. And the problem with my harness now is I pull the rope above the spider jack but don't have far to pull it before I'm at the device and at that angle of you can't pull into it easily. In theory I thought something with a lower bridge would be better suited. What harness do you use silky fox?

Samsung velocity works beautifully with the SJ. It's 11.3mm so proper skinny. It's the same rope Joe Harris was using in the Spiderjackery videos.

With good technique you can self tend from the ground, with no slack beneath you. The key is feeding your rope directly down into the cam, as opposed to pulling down and sideways with a HC.

As far as harnesses go I've got a TM with an extra knot tied to shorten the bridge. Works well for me.

Maybe I'm not so set on blue tongue then :) only difference between that and velocity is width velocity is slightly bigger which apparently makes it feel like a bigger rope, sounds like either one will do the job well. and that's a vote for the tree motion then, so far its winning the race

It's a lot about the technique- you can get it to self tend climbing hand over hand, but it does take practice- I like blaze, but find the super skinny ropes too hard on my hands these days.

I cannot see the harness improving it much, but if you want a new harness then ;)

Another vote here for the velocity. It works amazing with the spiderjack. Can't help you with long ascends I'm afraid as I tend to footlock into the crown and pull my system up to me on big long ascents. Saves my arms for the climbing and not wasted to much on ascending.

Velocity is thinner than Blue Tongue.

Blaze is also great. True 11mm so very "sporty". Can be too thin if you're a bit long in the tooth though ;)

It looks rough but it works well with pantin foot asceder and zigzag.

Its just a croll chest ascender used as a knee ascender, attached footloop(an old tool strop) and some bunjee cord which attaches to the biner at the bottom of the zz
