Here's the question I have a 254xpg that has done the piston and barrel. I was wondering if its possible and worth changing the cylinder to a 262xp as they are both the same stroke.

Might find the pot mounting holes a wider pitch . Also carb may not fit . If you cant get OEM pot and piston get the best aftermarket parts you can and then send it to Spud for a port job . He may be able to savage the pot if its just aluminium transfer . ( Metier piston is of OEM quality )

The 254 has a different stroke to the 262, if you put the 262 cylinder on the 254 it will hit the head.

Thanks for the replies with a bit of research I'd need 357 crank to put a 262 cylinder that is not worth it.

Now on the hunt for a good 254 cylinder

How bad is the cylinder . As said it might be SALVAGEABLE......

I'm going to have a go at saving it but I think someone has "saved " it before as the piston is aftermarket
