Bursting like that is a trait of dry wood. Ash is a lot more user friendly if split when fresh.

 

Nice work on the machine.

 

Cheers treequip, thing is i got the wood from work so i'm not too sure what it is, i know it was only cut last week and it does smell like pine!?!? :blushing:

well I think its 64 degs (two leading edges off a bucket welded back to back)!

 

looks good Dave, the first one i made had a digger blade the same as yours on it and it sent logs flying too. I sharpened the angle as treequip says and it cured it.:thumbup1:

 

Its a bit difficult (and scary) trying to keep hold of the log when its too blunt:blushing:

For this prototype I worked it out to be about £1000, but now the design is sorted and if I bought the components and materials in bulk I could manufacture them for £750 or there abouts!:thumbup:
