Advice on ash tree

I would fell and re plant something nicer ash is a weed IMO:001_smile:

 

 

but the customer would like to keep this tree, LOL:001_tt2:

 

i think ash are great trees and have a good use after thier time.

 

you can do pretty much what you like to them and they keep producing more and more lovely firewood!

Yep i agree to that but it's at a school more money to find maintaining the tree, when it can be spent on better things.:001_smile:

ohh quiet true but your not going to get a decent size tree that won`t get broken with the first football for a few quid, try hundreds, which could be spent on keeping this one in trim:001_cool: for many years

Lets not write it off yet.

 

Pics are needed to give a clear response. Nevertheless, what is the tree vitality like, how has the tree reacted to the damaged area. Reaction growth/wound wood formation...???

Loads of healthy trees have severe defects visible in the bark (cattle, shunted by vehicles, vandalised etc.).

 

Monitor the tree. If it needs felling in the future, you can charge more because it will be bigger, and will yield more quality log wood.

 

It's a win-win!:thumbup1:

 

Unless it fails suddenly and wipes some nippers out.....:thumbdown:
