What is the reason for wanting to change between transits to a Lr tipper? Unless you specifically need 4x4 for site you are better off sticking to a transit tipper. Newish transits have 6500kg train weight, upto 2500kg towing capacity and you are generally ok with 1300-1500kg payload. New transits are 7000kg GTW.

Always questioning ways to improve my business, looking at other options rather than just sticking to what I'm used to. Before buying another truck I want to know I'm making the right decision , that I haven't missed anything. This forum has proved brilliant for this. For the foreseeable I will stay with the transit route.

Same as me really. I am in near constant arguement with myself about vehicles/tools/etc. Would this be better, would that be better.... Then whatever I decide I rethink it again in 3 months!

My opinion is a transit tipper, a 4x4 pickup and a flatbed trailer will see you through most situations. Once you out grow these you are likely to be in 7.5t + or unimog requirement anyway.

Like what?

Well, about 2.5t of chip carrying capacity to start with. Jobs where you can chip on site you'd just need to take the Landy, and off-road jobs would be a lot easier if you don't have to tow a chipper being easier to manoeuvre etc. Landy would have the payload to carry a chipper (mounted to the bed) plus spare payload and space for lockable tool boxes etc.

Not ideal for everything for sure, but could be good setup for those based in more rural environments?

I have run Defenders all my tree surgery life. I'm selling my 130 Special Vehicle Tipper on eBay item number 232130467818.

I have 2 other defendants both 110 rated at 3.500kgs as I have up rated them. A lot of my work has been off road! But the towing capacity has always been an attraction.

I can carry as much as a transit but get out with 4x4 so I highly recommend defenders. Easy to fix and they hold their money. They are 3 seater single cab tippers. And parts are generally off the shelf.
