Petzl Sequoia or Treemotion

I would like to know how many TM users have received a healthy twang on the arse when the elastic between the leg straps and the harness get's caught on something?

 

Only really hurts when on bare skin!!

 

I'm after a new one soon too, TM again I think.

from what i gather, sequoia's are great for smaller guys.

 

i love my tree motion. comfortable in any position!

The motion is the don in my eyes, but i did have a sequoia and loved it to bits. When i come to getting a new one it will be a tough decision. If your looking for light-weight/flexible go for the petzl, but if you want comfort/durability go for the motion.

How long are treemotions serving for before being replaced ?

i have moved to the sequoia myself after years with a big old seat job, what a diference to my climbing manouverability and comfyness. sorry havent tried the treemotion mate.

I've tried both and prefer and use the TM...

 

If you can get yours through your LOLER inspection, I believe treemagineers are bringing out a TM2 which promises to be even better... not sure when it's out though or how far from the market it is at the moment.

 

The thing with the TM that I love most is that it lets the user put gear loops etc where he wants it rather than factory defined - it's a damned good harness for working off spikes and the rope bridge can be adjusted which was useful for me.

even tho i dont have the exrience of alot of you fellas on here i have been using a vairity of different harnesses at college over the last year and i have found myself going for the petzel everytime towards the last six months of the coruse i have a 32inch waist and dont find it to tight at all its a sung fit but personally that makes me feel more secure!

In regards to LOLER inspection and failure due to wear:

 

You can actually replace wear parts yourself, i.e. the top webbing links through the front d-rings and the rope bridge. On the newer models of the harness (the ones with the technical label integrated into the back pad) you can also replace the worn lower webbing links, which involves exchanging the leg loops.

 

You should be able to get or order these replacement parts from your dealer.

 

The good thing about being able to do this is that your harness can last you a really long time, if you are able to replace the worn parts only.
