Thoughts on Telehandler

Simple but effective.

 

Thats a bit smoother in operation than the one I borrow, the lifting slat type just rattle the gear to the back. That said you can launch stumps and chogs into it from a great height without damaging it.

Plus a walking floor is lighter than a tipper so more payload, around 30 tonnes on a 44 tonne artic, and you can load them with pallets from the rear and just walk them to the front, which you can't do with a tipper. That means you can use the trailer on other work or get a back load in.

When to have a look at the merlo yesterday, was and ok machine but definatly in "off the farm" condition, various bits of welding (Including the rear of the boom!!), play in pins, loose wires around the cab etc think I will pass on it as it could be a minefield of trouble!!

 

Also looked at a Sanderson 726 solo in absolutely mint condition used as a yard machine for a local tractor dealer for the last 5 years or so, its a older, but on the face of it much better machine. Anyone know what spares are like for these? Finally it isn't fitted with a 3rd service, not a problem in itself however may be useful later on, can one be plumbed in using the pickup hitch and trailer tip feeds and a changeover valve?

Machines ive worked on with extra services have gone for the changeover valve fitted to the headstock as it is far easier to run a wire up the boom than try and get 2 extra pipes up the boom

If the pipes on the sanderson are one the outside of the boom the wire will be easy to run just cable tie it to a pipe

But if they are run up the middle of the boom getting the boom apart is a horrible job

Yup, most third services will switch over the oil from the bucket tip and crowd circuit.

The tricky bit is getting an electric cable or pair of pipes up the boom, you will probably have to buy the pukka parts and possibly take the boom out
