All the US administrations of my adult life have had their faults (without doubt), but they were all at least acting with decency, respect and for the betterment of others (which isn't to say that they weren't in it for themselves too, but that they also engaged in altruistic behaviour sometimes).

Trump et al are a pack of hyenas. Sneering, viscious, selfish, taking what they want and everyone else be damned.

Very correct, it transcends political affiliation, Republican or Democrat, previous US administrations have generally been honourable, but all with faults.

Last time around and this time around I have never felt so close to a global political catastrophe as when Trump opens his mouth. Self serving and with no thoughts of anyone outside of their own heads.

Right, so you go to the oval office not wearing a suit begging for money, even the Jehovah's witnesses that knock on my door wear a shirt & tie and are polite enough to have a conversation even when you say no!.

He sat there with arms crossed with a metaphorical begging bowl on his lap and refused to show even a little humility to a nation that's pretty much bank rolling thr government.

A video this morning pretty much summed it up as returning to the principles of the founding fathers, happy to trade but leave us alone.

Plus even as a non American, the oval office & white house are very different to any other state offices.

We burnt the building, hence it was painted white, it's held in high regards like Buckingham palace.

You're going down a very slippery slope mate. When you've dug yourself into a hole the very first thing to do is stop digging, the next is looking to dig your way out. You seem well meaning but do seem to have been somewhat radicalised by right-wing ideologies and the bad actors portraying them. Best of luck.

Absolute drivel, it not a case of right wing ideologies I'm pretty centered to be honest.

You respect the office not the man, Donald is giving him the reality check that's very overdue.

He went with a begging bowl, so show a little humility and be very thankful in public.

Behind the scenes I couldn't care if they despise eachother instead of popping up on video wasn't it a Glastonbury?.

How about instead of trying that with Donald, why doesn't he speak to UAE.

And see how long his complete lack of respect and humility lasts!.

So your problem is he didn't wear a suit? News just in 3 years ago, but Zelensky is quite well known for ditching his suit at the start of the war. Well known enough that all (apart from 1) world leaders know and accept it. To have a go because of what he wears?

In all usual press conferences - taken after a behind closed doors talks - the 2 parties come out all smiling and either praising the talks as the best thing ever (queue Trump and Starmer as an example), highlighting the good things to make both sides look good, or they come out all smiling with "still work to be done, but progress is being made" (Macron and Trump). To come out and have 2 grown men sitting in their metaphorical front room having a go at another for not wearing a suit and falling at their feet begging? Serious case of petulance, dummies spat so far out they'll probably find them in Toronto.

It is also an open invitation to Putin that the US is not going to back up anyone in Europe, he has an open door to take what he wants - mark my words here, that press conference is not stopping the killings in The Ukraine that Trump so desperately wants (?) but quite the opposite. Watch the early spring campaign from the Russians and come back here to tell me that Trump and particularly the sycophant Vance took the right tact in the press conference.

Don't forget either that is all it was, a press conference to report on the discussions that they have just had. Not 2 bully boys trying to get their own way.

I shall try very hard not to make it personal, but your position is one that is hard to defend, understand or respect.

You use every opportunity to justify the actions of fascists, trying to explain their behaviour as only natural, normal and rational. It is not.

Zelensky did not come begging. He and his country are fighting a war because (amongst a great many other reasons) security guarantees given to Ukraine by the Budapest memorandum were not honoured by the west. Ukraine stands on the front line against Putin's imperialistic ambitions. If it falls, it won't be the last country on Putin's list.

As such, Ukraine is not only defending itself but the West more broadly. The very least they deserve is our support and respect. Trump et al offer neither, and consequently cannot earn it in return.

It's a very easy position to defend, argue and understand, just because a few of you are like the vegan health food shop frowning upon a meat eater buying his soya milk.

Of course he was begging bowling, please sir may I have some more.

The man must be swimming in begging bowl air miles, no doubt Kier will be giving him a reach around and a blank cheque on the bedside table later today.

Trump got it right saying when you're ready for peace, we can talk instead of everyone just saying more more.

He was ready for peace 3 years ago. Biden doesn't have the ear of Putin, Trump apparently does*.

Remember Trump saying very early on that he could stop the war in a day? It has been many days. That war is getting nastier with his involvement.

*... or vice versa.... Putin certainly has the ear of Trump for 'unknown' reasons, I very much doubt that Putin has any regard for Trump.
