Took a packet of Jammie Dodgers to discuss insurance over a cup of tea with the NFU manager.

As I sat there I came up with the idea of leaving the packet of biscuits on his desk as a reminder for him in the current political climate

Just About Managing My Insurance Expenses

Just had a quote from nfu just over 2k

Pli eli and tools about 30k

about 100k turnover but we do a lot of fencing so materials push that up.

I thought it was quite a lot but the tool cover is what I'm most interested in.

They say they covered any place any time. As long as forst entry then they will pay out. Other companies I looked at had loads of stipulations on types of locks and gates and security alarms or didn't cover tolls in the van etc

Spent about half hour talking to one company only to be told at the end they wouldn't insure me as I employed some one!!!! She said they would only cover tree surgeons that work on their own. Think it had something to do with the employer liability side of it but couldn't believe what I was hearing when she said it!

Found tree surgery insurance that they couldn't cover my tools as they had a massive list of security requirements that I couldn't meet without spending a fortune! But we're good when I just had Pli and eli with them but now I want it all with one company to save on time and effort it's seems v expencive

I was told by my insurer it is approximately £23 per £1000 insured for tool cover. Obviously going to be variations and significantly higher if you only insure a few thousand worth. For £10k kit about £250-260.
