If I am dismantling a tree I use one. Cannot think of a single good reason why you would not!

I own a couple - 3m for small trees & 5m for the rest

Laziness Pete pure Laziness, my soft rope lanyard is permenantly on my harness threaded through mini prussiks to keep its 5m length out of the way, only coming off when need to replace it.

Every time I use a flip line I think to myself wow this is great why don't I use it all the time, but I don't and other than the odd occasion it doesn't slow me down but agree a flip line is better.

At what girth would you start using a wire core llanyard, and do they work with petzl grillons? thanks

any diameter

Grillon - no.

If you do a lot of removals and you want a robust durable wire core flipline that lasts then the 3 Metre Komet Reglex Machoire is the way to go.

There's a lot of good information in this Wesspur video on fliplines especially why the diameter of the flipline itself is important

That's a great Flipline Scotspine....i have one of those that i bought from an Aussi bloke...simple adjuster....nice thin wire core

Yes solidly built!

Only 2 drawbacks - It's not easy to adjust under load and it's heavy enough to act as a counterbalance to the 150 on the other side of your harness (or perhaps that is an advantage:001_smile:)
