Hi folks, anyone on here done re-planting on a Forestry Commission harvested site, I might have the opportunity for a bit of work but it sounds pretty brutal, hand planting 1200 approx trees per day which is shifting on I'd have thought.

If you've done it what was it like, as brutal as it sounds, works out at about 2 1/2 trees per minute on an 8 hour day!!!

I never did better than 1500 and it often dropped to 500 and I was 40 years younger then.

1500?? thats a lot of spade work. So a tough way to earn then, just as tough as it sounds.

Look before you leap, go look at the site and take a spade. For all you know it could be hard old ground on the side of a hill a foot deep in mulched lop and top.

Not an option unfortunately, it's a case of yay or nay, I was warned that some sites were tougher than others but I suppose it's a bit like treework in general, just different grades of tough :001_smile:

It's brutal.. But it's a satisfying task.

Cheers Matty, I feel it would be satisfying/rewarding/interesting etc, looking at them in years to come knowing that you planted them would be it's own reward, a good story to bore grandchildren with LOL
