John, the other very neat solution I have seen is a 4 tonne site dumper fitted with timber bolsters in replacement of the skip. They will go anywhere, and are cheap and dead simple to work on. I have even seen them turned into mini forwarders with the addition of a small crane and the seat and steering reversed through 180 degrees.

The other method, and my favourite is the 4 tonne tracked dumper - VERY light on the ground, and will go anywhere - (ignore the slow skidsteer driver - I had got off to take the video)

First link is the supplier (Nr Penrith, Cumbria I'm afraid), second link is the rig. The supplier knows his stuff, used to teach machine work at the national school of forestry. Have seen one behind an alpine tractor go places I wouldn't take a quad and bring out reasonable loads. Not cheap though, work wouldn't buy me one:bawling:
