Elm, if its good enough for locks
-
A two part epoxy would be my choice as it has great fuel resistance and as its a bit thicker, theres no risk of it seeping anywhere. Before that I would lightly abrade the surface to help it stick.
-
I lied about running great. Early on the recoil spring snapped, likely user error as I have had to adjust it before. Anyway after bending a new tang on the end and she was fine after that. I'll get a new one ordered along with spares for my 020t and 2511.

Our were always good, but I would say that sometimes it must be luck of the draw, other times one sensor could throw out performance and still work within tolerance. It just depends if you find it. Had 4 td5s ,one 300tdi, one 200tdi, one td, a series 2a 3.5 v8. Ive never like the 300tdi for being lethargic , 200tdi yes please. I dunno why our td5s have been ok ,they have been unusually great
-
They start promisingly enough, some good pull and a turbo kick in that seems to foretell good things then… nothing. At least the 300 tdi was honest, torquey, good tow tug engine, slow but reliable.

It should be , il check tomorrow but I know on the defender it says it all ,

This is all great info thank you. I had planned on reducing the height a bit while maintaining the outward spread so it's good to be on the right track there. The owner was saying that while they had a really good crop last year, they also had lots more piddly little apples compared to other years. Could that be because of the lack of pruning or perhaps that's just how it was last year...? They've been in that house about 5 years now and I'm pretty sure they haven't touched the tree in that time. Thanks again.

2002 jimny 56 plate defenders
-
I will just put this out there about td5s, they don't take to remapping and if you say its been well maintained local garages dont count and dealerships aren't always great - often saying oh its diagnostics is the answer and people miss the basics, you need a decent reputable garage who specialises only in defenders . Not oh its a defender anyone can work on them/fix them .
-
Are you talking about new or old styles jimny and defender?
-
It won't be on the plate, it is a construction and use thing.
-
I wasn't thinking unbraked but it does say on Google and on our 2002 it says 1.6 id have to look tomoz on the plate again
-
Agree with Mark, looks like the glue is breaking down and once it does, it will block jets etc. you may not need to reseal the welch plug....try it first and if the saws idle is iffy, just use a smear of glue.....most petrol resistant glues are not truly petrol resistant.
-
Must of had a knacker and not from new then
-
Been asked to supply logs for milling into boat props. They asked me if treated Spruce would suffice instead of Oak or Redwood but I'm sceptical. I've assumed dry dock obviously, quayside.. Any ideas? Got plenty of mac and pine in stock.
-
yes, my vitara can tow 1.2 tonnes with overrun brakes but because you should not tow an unbraked trailer that is more than half the unladen weight of the tow car. So an unbraked chipper of 750kg is too much.

as was mine, regular servicing, and let it warm up before any extreme use, most problems are caused by some cowboy with a programme of ebay and just massive overfueling. a well respected knowledgeable company can make reasonable improvements without any of the aforementioned problems.

What’s this interesting material coming out of my stove?

Nothing like being happy in your life . 🙂 -
Td5 definitely needs something, not powerful enough in standard form.
-
Mine was well maintained all its life. Just it was even better after the remap.

Thanks Steven it happens that the chicken burner got up first this morning and relit the stove so I didn’t get the chance to poke about. I realise now that I’ve put a few cheese wrapping papers in - they’re apparently laminated plastic and paper so you’re supposed to rip them apart. But surely they’d all burn up rather than solidify and become heat resistant? Apart from that nothing weird goes in. I’ll send it to forensics … -
It can do all manner of shite to the engine, from losing compression ,to pulling manifold studs out, to tips of injectors , turbos seizing etc . A good maintained td5 wouldn't need maping.
