I think that if we didn't have to worry about a roof over our head and a secure food source, people would still choose to do useful things. Something is going to have to be done. There is member on here, @Welshfred who put me onto an excellent book called "The Ministry For The Future" - in that there is a section that describes how we used to think that everyone would ultimately have a better quality of life, then at some point the billionaires decided that they would just hoard their wealth instead. AI is going to change things and the people running the show have no intention of sharing their sweets.
