  1. Past hour
  2. What did we do before google street view 🤣 looks like a huge Oak tree, maybe a Ash tree and a plum tree. Not sure the possible plum has been taken down but the other 2 (maybe3) have
  3. The Stihl cuts well, I also use Panther chain from chainsawbars.co.uk - if you get the unguarded then no bumper links to make filing the depth gauge difficult. Not tried Oregon, didn't know they did 1/4.
  4. I renewed with Trust so they still have my CS38 cert, no further questions. Looking at HSE news roofers keep falling off roofs, but there was a tree bloke recently who fell trying to get down from a stuck mewp so falls from height are a hot topic.
  5. To me Oak has quite a distinctive vinegar like smell. Judging by the end grain in that last of the first lot of photos of yours I'd be surprised if that wasn't Oak. If you think you may have a mixture of logs then maybe some of it is Poplar. Superficially quite similar to Oak when it it gets big in diameter, the bark especially. I've a vague memory of it smelling sweet when fresh cut, but I could be wrong, it's been a while.
  6. Had to check it out on Honeys, must be good if it's a game changer... "The Samson Zing-It 1.75mm Throwline is a game-changer for professional arborists, ..." but then it goes on "easy to handle and maneuver, reducing fatigue during long hours of use. " Something definitely wrong if you're at the throwline for hours, get a ladder instead. It's out of stock anyway so I'll have to make do with something else.
  7. Yes....would need to change complete recoil assembly and flywheel as a matched set. That soft starter is shite anyway.
  8. Today
  9. Not had any oak before so not sure how it should smell. But it’s got a sweet smell to it. Maybe a mixture of logs 🤷‍♂️ One of them were huge, I’d imagine that was oak.
  10. I was thinking he could swap flywheel, starter, cover, the whole shooting match and convert back to normal C type of saw.
  11. I've just watched a Youtube short where a guy plugged his AP300 into the charger every day for 9 days before it started accepting charge again. Another possibility. Sadly I found no mention of a reset button on your battery but don't give up; as you say earlier it's a lot of money - I was looking at £230+ for a replacement Ego battery. Let us know Jon
  12. My insurance is do in January, last couple of days broker is asking a lot of questions about working at heights, and where abouts. Never had this before are any of you getting the same.
  13. Sweet like cherry or cat's piss like oak?!
  14. Handsome French Jæger Rifle in .58 cal. First time out with it today, needs a new nipple but its ok otherwise.
  15. Photos below! It looks possible to maybe weld a 'blob' on the top then grind a groove back in with a Dremel for the circlip. The post does not show as a separate part although it has a T27 hole in the top! Just priced it up new £74 with the VAT and shipping, Unless somebody has a complete flywheel and cover assembly then it looks like a new one! I see lots of Chinese starter housings for sale but reluctant to take a risk on those! but £15 complete!! The washer is on after clip to keep it all in position, not as it should be under clip!

  23. I'll try that now! just going to the workshop, thanks for that snippet!
  24. Calm down you hothead 🤣
  25. @Fatboy2017 I've just looked at pics of your battery online: is that a reset button beside the indicator lights? If not read no further; if yes read on... I recently had an Ego 56v battery 'die'; it got what's known Stateside as the red ring of death in its indicator lights and wouldn't take charge even directly connected in parallel to a good battery. It needed resetting which in that case was done by pressing the reset button three times, holding down for 7 seconds on the third press. Bingo!
