  1. Past hour
  2. There’s having opinions and there’s !!! Such as 🤷‍♂️
  3. The US is a good warning of what the UK will be doing in a few years, well worth keeping an eye on it.
  4. Loads of warning stories about this online - trades asking for full payment upfront - conclusion is usually a red flag warning. Exceptions tend to be if they are a small outfit buying in specific stuff that their trade accounts (30 days payment terms) wouldn't cover. Inspect and test you are only paying for time, trader wouldn't have any upfront fees. Worst case I would accept is to pay cash once they do the job / get here.
  5. Sandstone buried in timber is known to attract brand new 36" chains. Pointless trying to sharpen them, straight in the bin.
  6. Fair enough. Just because we have zero capacity to change things in other countries shouldn't stop us from having opinions on how that country is run though, especially when it can have a direct impact on us.
  7. Vote for 'Bare ended, no splice' if you haven't already please.
  8. Today
  9. Cleaning in the washing up and blowing out will do most of the work.
  10. 50% or 100%, depending on client, mood, weather etc.
  11. Well , it's happened,, chainsaws now included in politics bloody hell that's not SP is it???
  12. Get full payment upfront?
  13. bare ended. Even when i used to splice a lot i could never be bothered to splice my own rigging lines
  14. Was climbing with my petzl steel carab today, and noticed that it was a bit sluggish on closing. Would something like PTFE spray or 3in1 be good on that? Or any other suggestions?
  15. It's what I do for people I don't know or trust enough.
  16. That is the way it works in my world, he signs off my work, then I pay him for the tickets if my work meets the required standards. Or I could just send him the dollar, (what does that actually mean!?) Before I've clapped eyes on him.
  17. That magnolia looks like one I had at my previous house. The thing just puts on loads of growth each year and needs thinning out often to keep it at a manageable size. It isn't sniffy at when or how much in my experience.
  18. Interesting way of doing business. Don't you do the work, invoice then supply documents after payment or am I a dinosaur in a modern world of shysters🤔
  19. Or do they think i have? I need some work signed off, which I fully understand some trades aren't happy to do, so I expect it to cost a premium, it goes a bit like this. Inspect and sign this off bud? Yep, £350 (Although way overpriced) I go with.it. I'll be there Monday, but you'll have to send me the dollar over now.. Never dealt with the fella before. Either I'm going mad or...
  20. Vote for 'Bare ended, no splice' if you haven't already please.
  21. One long length, lives with the rest of the lowering equipment, no splice or caribeener in either end
  22. Yes that’s exactly what is happening Dan, its shot skyward this year and that coupled with my removal of some wider spreading branches is making it look a bit odd although still attractive. So my main question is will (annual?) removal of some of its height and width if it will tolerate it, stop the roots spreading so wide?
  23. I so nearly added that one and then for some reason didn't. Now have. Could you vote for it please.
  24. Fixed eye krab spliced on.
  25. You can vote for more than one option if you have more than one rigging rope, kept differently. If your answer isn't in the poll, reply in writing instead please. If it depends on who used it last, vote for all the possible ways you might find it.
