Im tempted to get the Mk1 to have a go at DrewB's retrievable re-direct idea. Im guessing you cant use the mk2 for that cos of the teeth digging in.

it's the toothed one not the grooves,, the grooves are very agressive on the rope,

I think that one has been put to test and found not suitable for fallarrest situations as it either ripped the outer braid or cut the whole rope... (The one with the ridges and not the little spikes)

I've used one whilst mountaineering and climbing... they are good, but be aware that the mk2 bites into the rope (good for frictional purposes!) which is not so good for the longevity of your rope. Hope that helps mate.
