I was only going to do it at weekends and evenings to start and see how things went before I gave up my day job. your views would be appreciated. kind regards  Phil

What should you have at the top of your Tree Shopping List?!

What should you have at the top of your Shopping List when you are sourcing trees from any UK nursery?!   Answer:-   Ask the Supplier for a copy of their Biosecurity Policy.  They should be able to give you a unique reference number per tree from which an audit trail will verify from where the tree was sourced and how long it has been in the UK.   Trees imported into the UK should have at least one full year - all the growing seasons - on a UK nursery to ensure any

Tree Surveys and Tree Tags

All arborists will invariably carry out tree surveys from time to time. They can be conducted on land owned by public sector bodies or on private estates. They ensure that the individual or organisation managing the land has the correct information that they need to make decisions regarding how they will manage the tree stock.   There is official guidance, namely British Standard BS5837, which sets out how decisions should be made when managing trees. A tree survey is needed before any

Tree surgeon waste for zoo animals

I don't know if this post is allowed, but I am hoping to reach out to local tree surgeons in London. Our animals at London Zoo goes through a lot of browse (a zoo term for leafy branches) all year round. It is getting harder and harder to obtain good quality material and logistics are always a challenge. I know that tree surgeons always have challenges getting rid of their waste. If you are interested in collaborating, perhaps we can help each other out? Due to a complex mix of plant t

Tree root question

In my house there was a tree cut down about 4 years ago (pic 3) Just now under the wooden decking in the picture the tiles cracked and were raised. I investigated and found these roots with this mound of growth (pic 1). I was wondering if you know what it is. Its only a meter from my house. Should I be worried? I just cut it out and filled it with sand but is there more I should do. Thank you very much for your time and help Also does anyone know what type of tree this was?

Tree Climbing Harnesses: A Buyer's Guide

Accident data collected by the Health and Safety Executive reveals that working at height is the biggest causes of fatalities and major injuries at work in the UK. As an arborist or a forestry worker, your harness is integral to protecting your health and safety. Tree Care 101: What Is Tree Surgery?

Tree Care 101: What Is Tree Surgery? Have you heard of tree surgeons? How about tree surgery? Both play vital roles in tree health, and they are important for the overall wellbeing of these plants and those who have them on their property.   While working as a tree surgeon can be potentially dangerous, it's important to know that these professionals take their jobs seriously and that they'll be able to help your tree whenever it might need it. But what exactly do they do, and what

T540i XP

It could be argued that February 2020 was not the perfect time to be launching a ‘game-changing’ new product, but that being said, Husqvarna’s latest battery saw appears to have hit the stores with only a couple of months delay.   I appreciate that for many, now is not the time to be splashing out on ‘experimental purchases’, but for anyone who has taken the plunge, what are your real-world-experiences of the T540i so far?   It’s a while since I used a petrol 540 (although it
