2wd tractors on the road

Does anyone run a 2wd tractor on the road still?

 

Most seem to be 4wd

 

There looks to be some good value decent hp 2wd tractors about for sale.

A mate has a 2wd tractor and I often drive it on the road. I have a 4wd tractor and for woodland stuff I think 4wd is fairly essential.

We have a couple of older 2 wheel drive Ferguson 698t's they fine on the road, just bear in mind they obviously don't brake on the front wheels so if using a fairly big loaded trailer you need to make sure it has trailer breaking and that the trailer brakes are working OK. Other than that no different really, cheaper to run as they don't scrub the front tyres off the same, but they are only allowed to do 30kph.

The thing is how many people use 4 wheel drive on every job manage many years with out it and makes you lazy on driving skills.

i run an old Jack brown 995 with a loader it can tow 6 ton and lift 1 your lucky to get 20mph though...

We ran 5 two wheeled drive David Browns 995s since they came out without any problems on the road but they do need some front weights !! Still have one .

Mine will be going up for sale soon though as i seem to be using mini diggers more and more now and i have another tractor. I will be sad to see her go as she has been a out right work horse and i also have never had any problems other than minor bits and bobs.

 

I have never needed front weights as it has a loader but when the hedge cutter is on the steering gets light lol.. The thing what always amazes me is how good on fuel they are my mate has a few tractors but on his log splitter and corn dryer he uses his 995 because they are so cheap to run.
