Asking for a friend who landscaped a garden after id removed and stump ground a fallen uprooted tree. Hes done the garden out really nice but keeps getting fungi/mushrooms coming up in the beds and the paths even haven put down a membrane. Is there a way to stop them coming up? Almost want to be a able spray them off like you would a weed if thats even possible? Any advice appreciated, thanks.

We have fungi in our flower beds and they are very welcome.... rather than eradication I would suggest reading up a bit into the symbiotic relationship between plants and fungi's.

It's very fascinating and hugely beneficial.

Maybe point him to this for starters?.... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symbiosis

cheers, steve

The fungi will persist till the fuel (organic matter) is exhausted then it will stop naturally

Trying to stop it would be a huge undertaking and an effort in futility

Tell the owner its simply the environment freeing up resources for his new plants to use

Weed membrane works by cutting out light. Fungi don't photosynthesise so it's never going to work and the spores are so tiny anyway that they'd blow in on top of any membrane. They don't tend to be around for very long so just don't worry about it - might even find some edible ones
