Bought one along with some alarmed padlocks on a whim, haven't quite worked out how to pull the cable out yet but hardly looked at it. The padlocks they are doing for 8.99 are worth getting, not the most secure but loud enough when played with

Great winches.

Hook it onto something, flick the springy lever up and pull winch back, it will unravel.

You can't slacken when under tension unless you have fingers like Wolverine.

I've had a £20 version for over 10 years.

 

 

You can undo them when right but it's a case of working with both catches on it to let it slowly release cable back out. Slow process but does work.

 

It would be painfully slow trying to winch a vehicle out with 6-8' of cable reach at a time.
