Hi all, just bought myself a yale imori 12mm and thought i'd try out both 8mm and 10mm ocean polyester cords to see how they both work with it. i climb with a hitchclimber and a distal on top, but FOOLISHLY forgot that i bought my last friction cord from the last trade show in chicester and the nice lad at treeworker cut me off an extra foot above 2 metres. so the issue is i thought i could make a distal out of 1 metre and inevitably its turned out about 10cm too short. obviously it wouldnt be the end of the world to chuck out the two cords, but it got me thinking it wouldn't be a terrible idea to find a knot that would work well on top a hitchclimber that you can tie out of 1 metre to save hassle in future any knot pros with any ideas?

Hi all, A quick request for your input, if you have the time. I was recently involved in running an advanced climbing workshop, for which I and some others made the handouts below. The handouts have been really popular, and we're now talking about trying to make them into 'living documents', kind of like a low-budget wikipedia for climbers. So we'd really appreciate (constructive) criticism and new ideas from all over the globe. Single Rope Technique Working the Angles Introduction to Redirects Knots for Arboriculture Any criticism or feedback, please email me at [email protected]

So....I'm warming to the idea of climbing in the future....recreational to start with, hopefully progressing to arb work later on. Can anyone reccomend a good book of knots, or names of specific knots that you use regularly. Also a recommendation on a good size or type of rope to practice knots on would be useful. Thanks in advance. H.

Part 1 of our guide on tree climbing knots is live https://www.landmarktrading.com/blog/guide-basic-tree-climbing-knots-pt1/ We're interested in hearing about the most useful knots for your tree surgery and arborist work? We could even feature them in part 2. Do you know and use any weird and wonderful knots in relation to your arborist work? The more obscure the better. Please share them on this thread.
