  1. That Tele-Radio above is what I use on my crane winch but I was told not to get the handset wet! I'll need to check out the model number.
  2. Apparently they used to plant horseradish along railway embankments to help stabilise them.
  3. Ha! Nothing new about fascines, it's a Roman (Latin) word so would imagine the Roman civil engineers would be well familiar with them. Interestingly the word Fascist is derived from the term as the Italian Fascist party used an image of a bundle of sticks as their symbol.
  4. I've made fascines in the past, mostly as a by product from over stood hazel coppice restoration some for use on my own property but the bulk were for Sussex Wildlife Trust for their projects local to me.
  5. Or could be fascines.
  6. Stunning! Only ever sailed around Colonsay, never actually landed.
  7. Two things. Don't let it get wet. Particularly around trigger area. Make sure you register it with Milwaukee otherwise tough t*tties if you want to make a claim on warrantee.
  8. Obviously didn't put enough Vodka in it!
  9. Yes. But is it??!!
  10. It's a bloomin' Spaniel. What's wrong with it, should have been in and straight after it!
  11. Impressive.
  12. What advantage does the tab boom give you? Assume the controls are standard ISO.
  13. Very good. Wouldn't say no to a breakfast like that in the woods.
  14. He really means surface area to volume ratio. Like elephants vs shrews and metabolic rates!
  15. I've recently bought a couple of the Rural View cameras. Great people to deal with but the cameras, well one of them has been a frustrating exercise to get to behave. I would stress however that I think that it's just a question of adjusting it correctly. Don't rule out Ring cameras, not as sophisticated but the software seems to work better.
  16. Doobin, do you get your Ajax system through the Rural View people? Or is their QR label for some other kit?
  17. I'm surprised trackers are not used more. Having said that I don't have any on my kit but I'm interested in looking into it. For example Apple tags, how effective are they?
  18. Stealing a man's tools is the absolute pits. Removing his means of earning his living. Thieving like this needs to be punished much more severely.
  19. Ah. I was hoping you were going to say it had been standing dead wood for years!
  20. how did you stop the cedar ring from cracking radially?
  21. Another West Sussex resident here too and a Scot by birth but I'm sorry John I can't help with your query however I do suspect your thinking is good. I have a very similar set up to yourself. Carrera tractor with a Vaha Jussi trailer with winch and 4WD. If it's not too much trouble I'd love to see more photos of the rack over your tractor bonnet as I really need to build something similar. Good luck with your move to Scotland. Alan
  22. Maybe it was because there was already a classic French pastry called "Pets de Nonne" ( Nun's farts )
  23. Well it's pissing down in Sussex which hurts all the more as we've had quite a long run of dry weather for a change.
  24. I've been thinking about upgrading my ear defenders on my Protos helmet too. Peltor X4 or X5 make sense but what's the deal with changing the brackets? Where do you get the different brackets from?
