  1. And you can coppice them. 👍
  2. I’ve done a fair bit on these machines over the years. I have a mix of Stihl/ Husqvarna machines of varying sizes for different uses. Husky 535/555rxt and Stihl 461 for trimmer cord/grass blades/mulcher blades. These are mostly used for ride widening, maintaining mountain bike tracks and clearing around newly planted tree to allow access for spraying or to avoid spraying altogether. I have a short shaft Stihl 461 and a Husky 555fxt with thumb throttle and heated handles for clearing saw blades. These are used purely for spacing out plantations and on conservation sites that don’t allow forestry mulching machines on site , RSPB/Conservation sites where ground nesting birds and habitat destruction are an issue. I would contact any local conservation Charities and see what they come back with, the work would be intermittent and seasonal but I would regularly have at least six weeks per year booked in for four guys at £250 per day, and similar for spraying, gave everyone a break from hand cutting for a while, that’s going back 5 years or so.
  3. Forestandarb where advertising a brand I had never heard of yesterday, claiming the lightest type ‘A’ s in the UK market.
  4. They certainly are capable of far better performances than they have showed so far, they need to up their game because after comparing the Spain v Italy, match they would be 6 down at half time.
  5. Pretty much, well rotted woodchip compost, algae/seaweed extract, organic fish/blood and bone, molasses and apple juice, then aerated and applied mainly around the drip line.
  6. Been helping another Arborist this week on this veteran tree reduction. This Holm Oak is estimated to be 350 years old and on the remarkable tree register. It has some significant stress fractures in the main stem and scaffold limbs, some previous historic hat racking, and some old and super tight cobra bracing. The crown of this tree is far bigger than the photos suggest, when the reduction is complete the bracing will be replaced with a new boa system ( 8 and 4 tonne). The lawn immediately within the drip line was scarified and the area has been fed with a home made magic potion prior to, and throughout the work, finally being covered with a 4” layer of woodchip. The photos are of the mostly finished job, they are back to do a few final touches today/tomorrow, then they will install the sign. IMG_5209.mov
  7. Or Half Man half Biscuit.
  8. Forestry England have been doing this for years now.
  9. My mate Wes played sax in The Beat, amongst others.
  10. I listen to FiP radio here in France, a mix of English language classics from the last 5 decades and the French equivalents that I have never been exposed to, a fantastic eclectic mix. I used to be able to pick it up in Brighton/South Coast back in the day, not sure if you still can.
  11. Have you actually confirmed ADB in any of the trees you have noticed, or is it just an assumption?
  12. What’s your reasoning for UK trees to be less affected than the rest of Europes Ash, stiff upper lip?
  13. This is correct, every tree that looks a bit sparse = ADB, wrong. It’s pretty easy to confirm that it has or hasn’t got it.
  14. Maybe you have just assumed that because the tree looked sparse, that it logically had ADB? It probably didn't and was more likely suffering from drought stress and made a recovery.
  15. Get it fixed and sold on, then put the money towards a brand new ported 346xp from customsaws, it will see you through till retirement. 👍
  16. Sorry Rishi, I can’t commit to my National Service as I am suffering from long Covid, prove I am not.
  17. Grew up with whippets/racing, fantastic breed and would suit your lifestyle, I’d contact whippet clubs., still several up North. Had Border Terriers for the last 15 years, the old boy is on his last legs now, would certainly have another, clever, strong, quiet, full of character. The French don’t really do ‘Sight’ dogs so a whippet here is out of the question, Jack Russel, Fox Terrier and Dachshund are common. The French Dachshund is commonly known as a Teckel, not the Dachshund you would be familiar with in the UK, it’s a wire haired, thick set short legged working terrier and is certainly on my list when the old boy passes.
  18. Thank god Usyk has finally shut those feckers up, Tyson had the right to mouth off as he was the reigning champion, but his dad should be muzzled in public.
  19. They all piss in the same pot, whatever the colour, scum the lot of them.
  20. The current shit bag Government had a study done by a professor at the University of Sheffield a few years back. She identified over 1 million habitable properties nationwide lying empty, perfect for compulsory purchase by local councils if they had the funding. The data didnt fit with the party rhetoric, so the data got FIB. The amount of rough sleepers that are ex-military is also very high, but according to the likes of Braverman et al, it’s a lifestyle choice.
  21. I would be very surprised if a 20 year old mixed hardwood plantation had material of a suitable size to meet any training/assessing requirements for groundbased chainsaw units.
  22. Iron Mike seems to be doing a pretty good job with his award winning Low Impact Forestry business, he is shit hot on the decks as well.
  23. They have probably been waiting on a response from the LPA to confirm if it’s TPO’d or not. 😂
  24. Canelo would destroy him any day of the week, twice on Sunday.
